2019 Living Circuit
Translucent porcelain, sound sensors, LED lights
Taking inspiration from organic growth forms found in nature, this series examines the aesthetic similarities between natural fractal patterns and human made circuitry. Veins, tree roots, and cellular structures along with electronic circuits create pathways to efficiently distribute important information or chemicals throughout a network. The pieces in Living Circuit are a juxtaposition between organic and synthetic creations that become active with sound interaction. What can be viewed as an organic egg sack transforms into a synthetic creation once it receives a sound signal. LED lights glow revealing a hidden pattern beneath the surface of the sculptures.
